Online Visita Iglesia & Donations via PayMaya
This Holy Week, amidst Covid-19, Filipinos can continue the religious tradition of “Visita Iglesia” online, and also donate to churches and religious organizations through technology.
With many people staying at home because of the enhanced community quarantine, many are turning to online Visita Iglesia
One technology option would be PayMaya. They have equipped Caritas Manila, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, with a QR code that can easily help them raise funds intended for various causes in light of the current public health situation.

Now, they can also donate to churches, religious groups and other faith organizations even while at home by simply scanning the QR codes of these groups using their PayMaya app. To date, PayMaya has equipped Caritas Manila, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, with a QR code that can easily help them raise funds intended for various causes in light of the current public health situation.
“Our current environment is changing many aspects of people’s lives. Churches and religious groups are turning to technology to continue their respective missions, and we at PayMaya are here to enable them with financial technologies such as QR,” said Shailesh Baidwan, President of PayMaya.
To donate to Caritas Manila, users only need to log in to their PayMaya account, press “Scan” at the bottom part of the home screen, point their phone’s camera toward the QR code, enter the amount they want to donate, and click “Pay”.
Digital Donations
Increasingly, more and more people are turning to mobile wallets and digital financial services to fulfill their transaction requirements–whether it’s ordering groceries and food online, sending money to families in the provinces through Smart Padala, or buying much-needed airtime load for communication – as they remain indoors for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine.
Aside from religious organizations, PayMaya has also enabled various non-government organizations and charitable institutions to accept donations online or via PayMaya through its #OneAgainstCOVID initiative which combines the largest database of groups and causes providing urgent relief and response to individuals and communities affected by the pandemic.
Interested donors can send funds to groups such as the Philippine Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam Pilipinas, and the UP-PGH Medical Foundation, among many others through the #OneAgainstCOVID19 website below, by scanning the respective PayMaya QR codes of these groups, or by going to the Pay Bills section of the PayMaya app.
